Reading about health & wellness takes up a good chunk of my free-time. I’ve found some incredibly resourceful reads that I would recommend to anyone.
And although I link books throughout posts, there are just too many to link them all.
So, I’ve written this post dedicated to my ever-growing book collection. Here, I’ve listed just 20 of my favorite health & wellness reads that provide a wealth of information.

How Not to Die
How Not to Die focuses on the plant based diet and the diseases it fights. It is a perfect read for anyone interested in the vegan/plant-based diet, and the benefits it provides. This is still one of my favorite health & wellness books, and one I’m constantly referencing.
The Inflammation Spectrum
The Inflammation Spectrum dives into the ultimate anti-inflammatory diet. It uncovers what foods may be behind your inflammation and how to find what triggers you personally. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially if you’re just starting your health & wellness journey.
Genius Foods provides an easy-to-follow guide to boost your brain performance through food. Because gut health plays such a major factor in both your short & long term brain health, Max Lugavere decided to pen a whole book dedicated to protecting & empowering this organ. Truly a must-read for anyone looking to induce longevity & vitality.
The Energy Paradox
The Energy Paradox is not just for those addicted to caffeine. Steven R. Gundry continues with one of the leading themes of his previous books (which are linked below) : inflammation and what it does to the body. These are a great place to start for anyone who is just beginning their health-fitness-wellness journey.
Deep Nutrition is a wealth of information on the four pillars of the human diet and how it effects future generations. It dives into different cultures with different diets and compares the effect it has had on their overall health and well-being. Again, a book I’m constantly referencing.
The Longevity Paradox
One of my favorite health & wellness books I’d say. Definitely in my Top 5. Going back to author Steven R. Gundry, The Longevity Paradox takes a look at inflammation’s effect on aging, and foods that enrich your overall health & longevity.
The Beauty Diet
This is the last time I’ll say, “one of my favorite books.” But it really is one of my favorites. I just love this one. It’s simple. Easy to read. Easy to understand. To the point. It’s just great. Another book on the ultimate “anti-aging, longevity diet.” And I must say, I’ve implemented so many of the tips & principles mentioned in this book and have seen great results. Would recommend to anyone & everyone.
Sugars can be addictive. It can be so difficult to consume less refined sugars, less simple carbs. I’ve found one of the best ways to break unhealthy eating habits is by learning & understanding exactly what they do to your body. Grain Brain is great for just that. Learning how these foods wreak havoc on vital organs, like your brain, leave you less inclined to make those choices.
Life Changing Foods
So, maybe you’ve already read some of the last books, but don’t know how to take your diet to “the next level.” You are “healthy” compared to the average American, but want to turn your body into a disease-fighting, thriving machine. Life Changing Foods, by Anthony William, dives into the power of plants and their healing abilities. You’ll be astonished after learning about the wonders of these fruits & vegetables most of us are lucky enough to have at our fingertips.
Eat to Beat Disease
Eat to Beat Disease’s main focal-point is pretty much in the title. A book on how to eat to beat disease. I love reading books that focus on the body’s ability to heal itself when given the proper tools & micronutrients. Another must-read for anyone new to the health/wellness world.
The Longevity Diet
The Longevity Diet focuses on the five pillars to longevity, from epidemiology to centenarian studies, and reveals how to apply them to your life for optimal health. It also features a guide to the fast mimicking diet—a process that has been shown to promote healthy longevity and weight management.
The Plant Paradox
The Plant Paradox uncovers a common misconception regarding the gluten-free diet. Cardiologist, Steven R. Gundry, reveals the dangerous effects of a toxin commonly found in “healthy foods.” The Plant Paradox focuses on the power of lectins, and the negative impacts they have on your health. This book also contains a number of easy, healthy recipes that are perfect for anyone.
Other than inflammation, another key message trending throughout these books is “gut health.” Or “gut microbiome.” And that’s because your gut plays a major, major, major role in your overall health. It effects pretty much every function in the body to one extent or another. Brain Maker unveils the true impacts of your gut on your brain’s health. It covers cognitive capabilities, autism, anxiety, & depression.
Cleanse to Heal
Another read by Anthony William, Cleanse to Heal. This is perfect for anyone who wants to start fresh. Change their eating habits. Their “unhealthy” way of life, but doesn’t know where to start. It provides a perfect starting-point for anyone wanting to transition to a more holistic way of eating. Healing from the inside. Anthony William’s books always have great, simple recipes in the back that I would highly recommend you try.
What to Eat When
If you ever need a scientific look at fasting and how/if it effects your body, this is the book for just that. I loved reading this book on understanding the importance of your circadian rhythm and how it effects your weight & energy levels. By exploring the habits of our ancestors, What to Eat When gives you a strategic plan to improve your overall health.
The Collagen Diet
I love collagen and think it works wonders for the body. The Collagen Diet is all about the benefits of said supplement and how to implement it into your daily diet. It focuses the positive effects this supplement can have on gut health, aging, and weight.
Ketotarian is the best read on a proper, sustainable “Keto Diet.” After discussing the extensive benefits of this approach to eating, it focuses on the healthiest, most sustainable keto lifestyle, and how to make adjustments for your personal goals & needs. I highly recommend this book to anyone who ” eats Keto,” or is just considering this lifestyle.
The Gut-Immune Connection
One of the best things you can do when starting your healthy lifestyle is understanding the importance of your gut health. The Gut-Immune Connection is a perfect place to start. Poor gut health is the root cause for so many conditions. So, understanding how to find your triggers is crucial to holistic healing. The Gut-Immune Connection will help you understand the role your diet plays in your immunity and, therefore, overall health.
Fat for Fuel
Through Fat For Fuel, Dr. Joseph Mercola reveals a dietary approach to preventing/fighting cancer and boosting vitality & brain health. He suggests that we’re losing the battle to cancer because we’re fighting the wrong enemy. His fascinating book reveals how to inhibit free radicals and boost your mitochondrial health. The easy-to-follow dietary guide is also one that I love to review.
The last Anthony William book I’ll site is Thyroid Healing. Although I found this book later in my holistic health journey, I still found it helpful in maintaining my thyroid’s current healthy, balanced state. Using some of these different tips has improved my thyroid’s health, and can definitely help you with any thyroid issues you are facing, whether it be Hashimoto’s, hypothyroidism, nodules, hyperthyroidism, ect.
